Extra Curricular Clubs

At James Watt Primary School, we offer a wide range of after school and lunchtime clubs. The clubs are run by members of school staff and they are changed each half term allowing a wide range of sports and activities to be covered.  These include football, cricket, netball, athletics, multi sports, eco club, circus skills, rugby to name a few.

Cricket Club (KS2)

Club Vision and Goals

  • To develop cricketing skills
  • To promote teamwork and sportsmanship
  • To encourage participation and inclusivity
  • To promote Health and Wellbeing
  • To provide competitive and fun opportunities

The club is supported by our cricket coach, Delvin, who runs sessions at lunchtime and after school. He helps pupils improve their batting, bowling, and fielding skills while making sure everyone has fun.

Cricket club is not only about playing matches — it is also about enjoyment, teamwork, and developing confidence. Students learn new skills, stay active, and build friendships. Delvin encourages everyone to try their best and supports players of all abilities.

Overall, the cricket club is a favourite at our school because it combines fun, skill development, and team spirit.

Nursery Rhyme Club (Nursery)

Club Vision and Goals

  • To develop language.
  • To develop self confidence.

Mrs McCulloch's lunchtime nursery rhyme club for our youngest JWPS pupils was a huge success in the Autumn Term.

Art and Crafts Club (KS1)

Club Vision and Goals

  • To explore their creativity in a fun and supportive environment.

Children created a range of artwork linked to seasonal themes and celebrations, such as Bonfire Night and Christmas. Using different materials and techniques, pupils developed their artistic skills, imagination and confidence while producing work they could be proud of.  The children particularly enjoyed creating crafts for the  Christmas fair.

Green Influencers Club (KS2)

Our Green Influencers club is to inspire students to care for nature, learn about sustainability, and take practical steps to protect our planet.

Club Vision and Goals

  • Promote eco-awareness within the school community.
  • Reduce waste through recycling, composting, and reusing materials.
  • Encourage energy and water conservation.
  • Protect biodiversity by planting and maintaining green spaces.
  • Build leadership skills in young environmental champions.

"If you only had one colour crayon, your picture would be boring. Biodiversity is like having lots of different colors to make the world beautiful and healthy."

Performing Arts Club

Club Vision and Goals

  • Build confidence through acting, dancing, and public speaking.
  • Encourage creativity by letting students write, direct, and perform original pieces.
  • Promote teamwork through rehearsals and performances.
  • Celebrate the arts with an end-of-term or annual show.

· A hilarious battle between good and evil that all takes place in Pantoland, to a soundtrack of fantastic music in a wide variety of styles. Your children will absolutely love putting on 'Panto Pandemonium' - and it's even been known for school staff to put the show on themselves! There's an array of traditional panto characters (Jack, the Giant, Aladdin, Cinderella, Ugly Sisters, Seven Dwarfs and even a Pantomime Cow) and plenty of booing, hissing and 'behind you' for everyone to enjoy. All in all, 'Panto Pandemonium' is great fun for audience and performers alike.

· It's complete pandemonium in Pantoland! Aladdin's lamp, Cinderella's slipper and the goose that lays the golden eggs have all been stolen - and none of the Good Fairy's magic is working. There can only be one culprit: the Wicked Witch!

· Four children are drawn into the action, magically transported into Pantoland to search for the missing magic objects and return them to the Good Fairy. Unless they succeed, there will be no more happy endings, and the evil Witch will rule the world!
